“Passing alongside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. And Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” And immediately they left their nets and followed him.â€â€â€Mark‬ â€1:16-18‬ â€ESV‬‬
Imagine with me that you’re at your job. You’re working away at some task, and suddenly, a guy walks up and says “come and follow me. I’m going to make you a fisher of menâ€. Could you do it? Could you walk away from everything you know to follow this guy?
The thing is that sometimes Jesus does ask us to drop everything, trust Him, and take up our cross and follow Him so that we can learn to be fishers of men. When we follow Jesus, our lives are no longer about us, our lives are about Him. And Jesus calls us to spread this good news that will set the captives free! We all are called to be “fishers of menâ€. If h calls you to step out of your comfort zone to do what we are built to do, are you ready? ~ James Oliver
