Mark 1 – 2017 To Do List

Devotional 1 – 2017 To Do List

Passage: Mark 1

Recently, I have been studying the Gospel of Mark. Through the gospel of Mark, we can experience Jesus on the move. He is busy. In the first chapter alone Mark records Jesus involved in many things. Right away, John baptizes Jesus; Jesus is then lead into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit to be tempted by Satan; he then begins his ministry and calls his first disciples.

In Mark chapter 1, Jesus heals a man of an unclean spirit and then heals multitudes of other people while casting out demons, preaching in Galilee and cleansing a leper. All of this activity got me to thinking about what will keep us busy in 2017. If someone sat down to write an account of your life in 2017 what will it say? One of the key passages in the Gospel of Mark is Mark 10:45, “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Will 2017 be a year of self-service or a year spent in the service of the Lord who gave his life as a ransom for you?
