Ephesians 2:8 – Grace through Faith
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.”
~ Ephesians 2:8
Such a statement, such a proclamation we hear in this. Without fail this is one of my favorite scriptures in the Bible. This was given or dedicated to me when I was confirmed in a different church back in 1996. It has always been so dear to me.
The word alone when speaking of our savior draws so much attention. He is grace. He gives us so much while asking only that we put our faith in Him. He created all, and asks for only our faith and devotion to Him. Even as we are born into sin, His grace alone forgives and has already seen us through the battle before we even started.
Not by ourselves and translating differently, not by our works. Thank you, Jesus! Knowing that we bow before our Father and creator, how comforting is it to know that we need only put our faith in Him? Could we ever earn our way into heaven? Could we ever even imagine the pain and suffering of the innocent lamb on Calvary? I certainly can’t and don’t ever have the words to think of Him suffering on my behalf and then only asking that I only have faith in Him.
So many times I feel that I’ve fallen so short of the glory of His kingdom, and yet in this scripture I understand. He, by His own grace and mercy, gave me my path to not only know Him but be saved by Him. Nothing of myself, only of Him. Thank you, Father.
