You’re angry?! I’M ANGRY!

A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare.
~ Proverbs 15:1

I love the Proverbs. The wisdom to be gained is awesome. But, carrying out the wisdom proves difficult every day! When I read this proverb, it hits home because I’m preaching on marriage for the next several weeks. In my own marriage, I typically respond to anger with anger of my own. I will counter-attack instead of using gentle words in response.

The next time your spouse (or someone) is angry at you or even for you, use gentle words in response. When it is effective, thank the Lord for the lesson, and the strength to accomplish it. Read this proverb often as a reminder of how to respond to anger.
