Rescue From Evil

“The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory for ever and ever. Amen.”
~ 2 Timothy 4:18

I have to admit I struggled with this week’s writing. My mind has been all over the place and while I had so many ideas and inspirations I couldn’t get the words out. This week I have seen the death of a friend and the dealing with a health issue of a mentor. When you combine factors like that with the usual draw on any one of us during a week it can become straining at best. I was thankful though that I had someone so much greater to rest myself in. I had Jesus to rescue me.

As people, even at our best, we’re probably not that great. I use myself as an example. I try, but fall so short of what I know I should be in Christ. I feel like no matter what I do I keep missing the mark. If I even come close to the mark I feel attacked, which is the truth in my notes today. When we as believers get closer to where God wants us to be there is certainty that we will be attacked. It is going to happen when you follow Him.

Then the good news comes, as always. The Lord himself will rescue you from your day, your week and every attack that comes upon you. It doesn’t just stop that there though, He doesn’t just take you out of the attacks, He takes you into His kingdom. I think as I write this so concerned about my own life being attacked I sometimes lose sight of the glory of the kingdom He has already brought me into.

Let’s never forget the last part of that verse though. Give Him the glory always. He will guide you through every attack and show you such a life in Him.
