The Power of Words!
Be not rash with your mouth, nor let your heart be hasty to utter a word before God, for God is in heaven and you are on earth. Therefore let your words be few.
~ Ecclesiastes 5:2
As soon as I read this, I immediately was reminded of what the Apostle Paul wrote the the Church at Ephesus:Â Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. (Ephesians 4:29)
Words hold a lot of power. God spoke the world into existence. Jesus used words to call Lazarus from the grave. He used words to give sight to the blind men. Words are so powerful.
With words, we can bring tears. With words, we can bring joy. With words, we can bring anger. Words are something that once spoken can never be taken back. They are forever out there.
Use your words in a way that is encouraging to those around you instead of discouraging. Use your words to testify to the greatness of our Lord and Savior rather than the condemn those around you. Use your words to speak truth in a loving way rather than using your words to speak truth in an effort to tear down someone.
Today, I challenge you to use the power of words that God has given you as an instrument to draw those around you closer to Him.
