What about Monday?
“When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.”
1 Corinthians 15:54-58 ESV
Today, Easter Sunday, we have celebrated the resurrection of Jesus. We have donned our Sunday best, worshiped, proclaimed “He is risen!” on social media, and celebrated in a variety of ways. Indeed, this is reason to celebrate! But, what about Monday? Where will we fall on Monday morning? Will it be on our knees, before our risen King, steadfast and immovable? Will we abound in the work of the Lord, come Tuesday? Will our minds move beyond Easter Sunday, with the power of Christ’s resurrection still on our minds and hearts, on Wednesday? You see, the resurrection is life changing and provides a foundation for how we live every day. When we truly believe the Gospel of Jesus, that he lived a humble, perfect life, died a gruesome, sacrificial death on our behalf, then was raised to life, just as He predicted, we are changed. This is not a ho-hum story. It is life altering! It is because of the resurrection that our faith can stand. It is because of the resurrection that we have hope. The resurrection gives us reason to share and celebrate more than one day a year. The resurrection is a catalyst for transformation. True faith is seen in the Mondays of our lives. So, I ask again… what about Monday?
