Come Unto Me

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
~Matthew 11:28 (KJV)

The Jewish people were under so many strict laws that had been created by man that it must have been miserable to live. I can’t imagine living during those times. God’s laws that were meant to make life great had been twisted into something that was a far reach from His intention. It’s as if every little thing was a sin against God back then when it truly wasn’t. Jesus was saying “Come to me all of you guys who are so burdened by all this and I will give you true rest. I will restore my kingdom within you and give you peace, joy, happiness, the Holy Spirit.. I will take on the one thing that plagues you most.. your sin. I will pay the cost for you so that you don’t have to. I need you to trust me.”

Today, we still sometimes take on heavy burdens on ourselves and forget that Jesus wants us to give those burdens to Him so he can give us rest. It may be a sin to hold onto the things that we’re holding onto rather than giving them over so that God can have control and handle things that we will just mess up.

Are you tired of your sin? Are you tired of holding onto your sin? Confess it to Jesus. He wants to take on our burdens. Are you tired of ignoring His direction? Let go. Trust Him.
