A Recipe for Peace?

This is one of my favorite passages in the Bible!

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Phil. 4:4-7)

Frequently, you’ll hear one of these verses cited alone, but my favorite way to read them is keep the paragraph intact. Read them all together. What you see here is a recipe for finding peace at all times. The answer begins with rejoicing in the Lord and ends with the peace of God through Christ Jesus. As always, it’s bookended with God and Jesus.

Follow the flow of meaning from one verse to the next. Let it sink in.

God bless you!
