1 Corinthians 1:28-29 – The Chosen

Broken, battered, foolish and soiled
Pained, bruised, traveled and toiled
Prerequisites each for song to sing
To carry well and please the King

For how would honor be displayed
Without the burden pain portrayed
Of shrinking shame or sheer contrition
Impossibility of the mission

Gideon’s fear nor Moses stutter
David’s guile nor Paul’s shudder
Were enough to dull Jehovah’s will
Their empty spaces He would fill

So suffer not your stains or strife
His constructs best within the life
Of those the world saw beat and busted
But with a song they’ve been entrusted

And weighted with a will that wanes
And striving, strewn and stricken, strains
May seem like sun itself is frozen
A mere refrain for the chosen

Then sing they the song unsung
On this law the others hung
The psalm of love from cradles bough
It echoes true and rises now

1 Corinthians 1:28-29:God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things–and the things that are not–to nullify the things that are,so that no one may boast before him.
