1 Corinthians 1:28-29 – The Chosen

Broken, battered, foolish and soiled
Pained, bruised, traveled and toiled
Prerequisites each for song to sing
To carry well and please the King

For how would honor be displayed
Without the burden pain portrayed
Of shrinking shame or sheer contrition
Impossibility of the mission

Gideon’s fear nor Moses stutter
David’s guile nor Paul’s shudder
Were enough to dull Jehovah’s will
Their empty spaces He would fill

So suffer not your stains or strife
His constructs best within the life
Of those the world saw beat and busted
But with a song they’ve been entrusted

And weighted with a will that wanes
And striving, strewn and stricken, strains
May seem like sun itself is frozen
A mere refrain for the chosen

Then sing they the song unsung
On this law the others hung
The psalm of love from cradles bough
It echoes true and rises now

1 Corinthians 1:28-29:God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things–and the things that are not–to nullify the things that are,so that no one may boast before him.

Colossians 3:2 – A Measure

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

Colossians 3:2

A Measure

A litre, a meter, a pound or ounce
A gram a dram as confidence mounts
A sheave, a bale, a drum or cord
To tip the scale, unsheathe the Sword

A fight, a scrap, a bluff or battle
To engage the foe or saber-rattle
A dollar, a yen, of gold or guinea
To love the known or pursue the many

A yard of youth, a pinch of zeal
A spirited lunge if conditions appeal
A stint in time, or life’s full measure
Worldly luster or heaven’s treasure?

Colossians 3:13 – Bearing They Come

bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.” ~ Colossians 3:13

Bearing They Come

From now and ago bearing they come
There is no measure to the sum
Of love borne in hands so sweet
Our needs and hurts they to meet

A word, a deed, a prayer a thought
A tear, a hug, a pain is wrought
But ne’er alone as onward tread
We the children oer planet spread

Bearing they come with arms spread wide
Carrying others, as side by side
Seeking those who plod alone
‘Come bear with us’ is the drone

This wilderness we, laced in laughter
Are the happy ever after
There is no measure to the sum
From now and ago, bearing they come

The gale’s biting chill abounds
As icy drifting doubt surrounds
But in the frozen shearing mists
A powerful warmth there persists

Broken earth as tremors shake
Fractured base neath the quake
Inside the roll of aftershock
I feel the presence of The Rock

A wall of flame licks my face
The heat envelopes every trace
Infernos blaze therein I learn
Can not my Host and I to burn

Tidal shift brings despair
I fight to lift my head to air
Er on top the waves I see
My smiling Savior speak to me

Blowing winds are for soul’s sail
Faltered feet search for the Veil
Heat tempers the faith to seek
Waters waves will wake the weak

I AM ever present, child
Your faith lukewarm within the mild
Do not fear life’s dreaded din
I am I AM…I am within
